Projects

Selected projects

Open a project for the challenge, what I did and the results.

NHS2020–presentIntune, Entra ID and Windows 11 Evergreen framework for 300+ NHS GP practices300+ GP practices

The challenge

Hundreds of GP practices, each with its own history of devices, applications and local fixes, supported by shared 1st, 2nd and 3rd line teams. Every difference between practices made support slower, security harder to prove and change riskier, in environments where patient data means there is no room for error.

What I did

  • Designed an Evergreen framework so every supported practice gets the same operating system, applications and security, and IT gets the same support model and tools everywhere.
  • Phase one standardised on SCCM (MECM) with 1E Nomad, PXE Everywhere and Shopping, Patch My PC and Windows 10, with Azure services for file sync and storage.
  • Phase two moved practices from legacy on-premises infrastructure to NHS.NET, Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, Autopilot and Windows 11, with Teams and OneDrive.
  • Security built in: Conditional Access, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and Windows 365 Cloud PCs where they fit.
  • Applications packaged once with PSAppDeployToolkit and deployed the same way everywhere.
  • Wrote the workflows, processes and procedures for help desk, onsite engineers and escalation teams, and mentored junior staff.

Results

  • One standard build, application set and security baseline across 300+ practices
  • One support model and toolset for 1st, 2nd and 3rd line
  • Practices moved from on-premises infrastructure to Entra ID, Intune, Teams and OneDrive
  • Documented processes that let the support teams run the platform day to day
